THE MOVEMENT IN SPACE WORKSHOP
This workshop is based on the method of dance that I created over the past eight years, during which I gradually experienced blindness. Now totally blind, I continue my work as a dancer and choreographer, creating a unique approach to movement absent visual information.
As I explore these new experiences in dance, I have come to realize that this method of dance is a valuable and creative experience for everyone, because through this method of creativity one enters a very powerful place. Consequently, while the workshop does include movement, it is not so much about developing dance techniques as about a unique approach to individual discovery. Among the components of this discovery are:
* The understanding our internal reality. Each person has, for example, a different sense of time that has nothing to do with the clock that our human culture created. Someone might experience time as amazingly fast, almost like experiencing the moment from the beginning to the end of the world in a few seconds, or for some time might flow like a silent universe. This focus brings you to awareness of what is really going on inside, both physically and spiritually.
* How to catch the moment. Meditation and verbal guidance allows awareness to become part of this moment, and the workshop will provide assistance in how to bring your spirituality into the present moment and express it maximally in movement.
* Finding the balance between the body and space, experiencing each different space in the most positive way. The first part of this exercise is to research the space to obtain as much information as possible by touching and experiencing the energy of different places within the space, inspiring the workshop participant to converse with the space until their body becomes the space and creating movement with this awareness. Eventually, one comes to the point that they are “moving the space”.
This experiential workshop will also use the technique of Tetsuro Fukuhara's space dance. Space dance is a wonderful dance art that can develop the human body into a new body, one that can express the beauty of current times and the present moment. The ultimate purpose of this workshop is to create an art design that can be used in daily life, constucting a new relationship between the body, mind, and spirit.
The workshop takes place over three-four days.
